Potential members who do not know any of the members should
approach the Secretary (best by e’mail) who will supply the necessary
details. An initial visit allows the
formalities to be carried out and for the visitor to see some of the Club’s
activities. Training in safe
handling of firearms and the basics of accurate shooting are then taught over
the next 6 visits. With this
successfully completed the entrant can continue shooting and the application is
reviewed by the Club Council at the next quarterly meeting. The Council if satisfied, will then grant
Probationary Member status. The
Probationary period is normally six months and following a further review leads
to Full Membership.
This process is formal partly due to statute and partly for
the Club to be confident of the member’s competance and responsible attitude to
shooting sports.
